And according to its proposed dimensions, the eight-acre site in Travis will be among the nation’s largest. A BESS in Moss Landing, California, is currently the biggest in the world, storing 750MW, only 100MW more than the anticipated capacity in Travis.

Storage will increase the resilience and efficiency of New York’s grid, which will be 100% carbon-free electricity by 2040. Additionally, energy storage can stabilize supply during peak electric usage and help keep critical systems online during an outage.
